Volunteers are Fellowship Health Clinic's greatest resource! If you are a potential volunteer, thank you for considering sharing your time, talents and expertise to offer health and hope to medically under-served adults in the Hattiesburg area. 

What types of volunteers do you need?

• Dentists and Oral Surgeons
  • In the provider's dental or oral surgery clinic: Since April 2015, Fellowship Health Clinic has been referring patients to area dentists and oral surgeons for free extractions in the providers' offices. Patients are screened in our clinic by medical and dental volunteers, then an appointment is made for the extraction. The number of patients a dentist agrees to see in a week or a month is set by each dentist. Of course, a dentist may be removed from the referral list at any time if he or she so chooses.
  • On-site at Fellowship Health Clinic: To enter the dental referral program, patients visit our Client Eligibility Screening Days the first and second Tuesdays of each month. Each patient is checked by a volunteer dentist to determine if he or she should be referred for an extraction.

• Medical Lab Technicians: Lab technicians are needed on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to collect and process specimens for a range of basic medical tests. Our clinic has a contract with LabCorp for processing medical lab tests. 

• Nurses: Licensed NP's, RN's and LPN's are needed on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to triage patients, check patients' vitals, draw blood for the lab, update patient charts, call in prescriptions, and assist with other clinic duties. 

• Pharmacists: Pharmacists are needed for two hours one or two days per month to fill prescriptions at the St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy at Fellowship Health Clinic. These volunteer pharmacists have no narcotics to fill, no insurance to process, and pharmacy techs are present to assist.  

• Physicians
  • On-site at Fellowship Health Clinic: Physicians willing to see patients at our clinic are needed on weekdays. Current volunteers are family medicine, internal medicine and emergency room physicians. 
  • In the provider's office or clinic: Many of our patients need treatment by specialists. Please let us know if you are willing to see one or more of our patients in your office at no cost, for a reduced fee and/or through a payment plan. 
• Social Workers: Social workers are needed at Client Eligibility Screening Days on the first and second Tuesday mornings of each month.  

• Other Healthcare Professionals: Many of our patients benefit from treatment by physical therapists, licensed professional counselors, dietitians, exercise instructors, and other professionals. Please let us know if you are willing to volunteer your time and expertise with our patients. 

• Non-Medical Volunteers: If you're not in the healthcare field but still have a heart for helping the medically under-served, we welcome you as a volunteer. Adult volunteers are needed to screen clients on eligibility days. This is an ongoing commitment on Tuesdays. Training is provided.
